Cango Wild Ranch

Cheetahland
Get close! Get very close...as you meander on the catwalk over large natural enclosures, which are home to some of the world's greatest big cats. From the treetop lookout, view the elegant cheetah, mighty lion, breathtaking African leopard and the awesome white Bengal tiger.

Experience the wonder of your own personal encounter with purring hand-reared cheetah and our other large ambassador cats.
Kuranda Forest
Visit our aviary filled with rainbow colored lorikeets! You also get the chance to purchase nectar and feed these beautiful animals while they make themselves comfortable on your shoulders and head.

Lemur Falls
Lemur Falls is the only interactive lemur exhibit on the South African continent!!!

The exhibit themed to replicate a Madagascan forest… is entered by crossing a large river teaming with bird life such as spoonbills and whistling ducks - which are native to the exotic island…while volcanic rock waterfalls provide an impressive backdrop to the indigenous Betselio Village bordering the primeval forest. As you glance across the forest you will see dozens of piercing eyes staring back at you from the high indigenous Madagascan trees. We house 3 species of lemurs, from the ring-tails to the black and white ruffs as well as the inquisitive brown lemurs. We offer you the unique opportunity to be face-to-face with these beautiful and rare primates while our experience department capture this moment on camera for you.

The aim of this exciting development is to continue providing the experience of memorable encounters at the Ranch with unique and endangered animals whilst drawing attention to their plight in the wild of Madagascar. We have also proudly entered into an agreement with the Madagascan Fauna Group – whereby a portion of the funds generated through the lemur encounter programs will be donated to the MFG (Madagascar Fauna Group) to go towards their conservation efforts regarding saving lemurs in Madagascar.
This wonderful encounter opportunity is open to children 5 years and older, and is a great experience for the whole family for any day of the year! Where better to love a lemur....than Lemur Falls!
Snake Park
Slimy, slithering snakes; creatures nightmares are made of; the one animal most people love to hate. But exactly how slimy and scaly are these footless wonders...

Take a walk through our snake park and see a different side to these animals. Learn interesting facts about snakes and where they come from. Walk where most people fear to tread and appreciate the bizarre beauty of these creatures that are so important to our ecosystems.
The Wallaby Walkabout
Our guests are welcome to come and feed our wallabies. Our curious little wallabies might be shy at first BUT... Give us some food and we will be great friends!
Valley of Ancients
Our exploration starts in the ruins of The Great Temple... Many years ago an ancient tribe built this temple to protect a hidden valley filled with wondrous animals. Here they performed human sacrifices to the river god Nyami Nyami whose statues still guard the entrance today.

In 1835 explorers discovered the valley and soon exploited the natural resources and people. Trading stores were established and diamonds were recovered from the riverbeds using specially designed crocodile-proof cages. At some point (and we’re not sure when) – everyone in the valley disappeared. Some say the river god became angry at the devastation and destroyed all who lived here.

In 2006 the valley was rediscovered and it is here that we will be traveling - hopefully with lessons learnt... so that we do not anger the Nyami Nyami as well. And without further ado, follow us into the Valley of Ancients…

A tropical house inhabited by giant flying foxes, the shy blue duiker and a magnificent tank offering you an underwater view of Malawian cichlids, will be your first encounter as you enter this ancient temple.

Our resident Marabou stork, has moved to this exciting exhibit and now share their new home with endangered Cape Vultures.

Venture over this deadly gorge via a suspension bridge while 4 meter Nile crocodiles keep a close watch on you from the Cage Diving pool below. It is also here that you are given the only opportunity in the world to get close, very close ... to these super predators during a Croc Cage Dive.

Croc Cage diving Encounter

See these mighty beasts leap for their lunch and stand in awe of the bravery of your guides as they encourage huge Nile crocodiles to take meat from their hands while standing on a moving jetty!

*Please take note of our age restrictions

See the rare Madagascar Ring-tailed Lemurs in the exotic setting of Lemur Island, depicting the environment of Madagascar. Experience the lemur’s haunting sound and staring eyes which led early explorers to think of them as ghosts...

Sharing Lemur Island is a group of Greater Flamingos who will dazzle you with their pink plumage.

Be enticed into the heart of Africa with the Congo as your next stop where Pygmy Hippos lurk in the murky water. The rare and elusive Pygmy Hippo, once thought to be a baby Nile Hippo, was only classified as a species in 1911. They are magnificent creatures...and what they lack in size... they make up for in attitude!

Valley of Ancients promises to be so much more than you expect. The Valley was developed with only one thing in mind – to entertain you, the visitor, and is a thrilling experience for the whole family.

What sets Cango Wildlife Ranch apart, is that we take our animal care and visitor safety standards to an international level. We accomplish this by ensuring we uphold our internationally recognised accreditation by the Pan-African Association of Zoos & Aquaria (PAAZA). This specific accreditation has only been awarded to 4 facilities in the whole of Africa, it is extremely prestigious and difficult to achieve and is reviewed every 5 years.

Our Natural Encounter programs, along with our new Experience Department, offers visitors both young and old the chance to interact with a few of our ambassadors species:

Open the door to your heart and we will open the windows to your soul.

In our Natural Encounters Program you can;

Befriend a snake,
Meet a cheetah,
Interact with a Serval,
Chill with a Tegu
Hang out with our Ring-Tailed Lemurs or
Croc-Cage Dive with our Nile crocodiles! PLEASE NOTE: *Crocodile Cage Diving is closed during the winter months as crocodiles do not eat for the entire winter period and exert as little energy as possible. *Due to this it is currently closed and will re-open on the 1st of October. Please note this is subject to weather and therefor subject to change.
PLEASE NOTE:

Overcome your fears or indulge in your dreams with the following Encounters and photo opportunities up for grabs.

At Cango Wildlife Ranch, the well-being and welfare of all our animals is paramount in the promotion of our conservation ethic to you, our valued guest.

To achieve these aims we promote the concept of Natural Encounters between you and a number of select ambassador species.

We hope that encounters with these magnificent creatures will encourage compassion and support in the plight that these species face on our fragile planet. All contributions from Natural Encounters go towards the vital funding of our conservation and captive breeding programs. If you would like to become more involved in helping us to help them, we invite you to join our Cheetah Preservation Foundation (CPF) – which channels all contributions to the conservation and breeding programs both in the wild and here at the Cango Wildlife Ranch.

It is important to note that we take our cue from our animals. Should for any reason, they not react voluntarily we will not force them to participate in an encounter. Their health and well being is our first priority. Encounters therefor are subject to change without prior notice.

This delightful little corner of the ranch was designed with one thing and one thing only in mind…?children!

Most children dream of having a bunny or guinea pig to cuddle and this is exactly what our farmyard offers. Children are given the opportunity to enter the rabbit enclosure and cuddle to their little hearts’ desires. When the rabbits become old news, they can always venture into the goat enclosure where they can meet our always-hungry Cameroon dwarf goats. Due to the high demand for ‘bunny cuddling’ amongst the young at heart, we also allow adults to enter the enclosures. Make your children and inner-child happy by paying a worthwhile visit to our farmyard.

Jungle-jims, a jumping castle, a waterpark and playground area will keep your children entertained for ages! We also have a small petting zoo with a variety of beloved farm animals. Last but not least, our Tiny Tots area is designed with your little one's safety in mind, with nearby shaded seating for tired parents!
